Neighborhood Treasure: 104 Year Old Photo of 1314 Glenlake Avenue (circa 1912) Discovered

What a wonderful discovery!

After reading the ‘Teaser #31’ tidbit from the Spring 2016 issue of the ‘Edgewater Scrapbook’ by the Edgewater Historical Society, our neighbors sent us this photo they discovered of their house mentioned in the piece.

They believe the photo was taken around 1912 since the house now at 1310 Glenlake is not in the picture.  One of the three women who can be seen on the porch in the photo could well be Mrs. Henry Krauter!

Chicago Fire Filming in the 48th Ward

On Tuesday, March 1, the television show Chicago Fire will be shooting scenes for one of the season’s final shows at the Broadway Bank bldg., 5960 N. Broadway.
The planned shoot will be from 6:00am – 6:00pm.

There will be parking restrictions throughout the area starting at 3:00am – 6:00pm and they are as follows:

BOTH sides of Broadway, Thorndale to Glenlake
BOTH sides of Magnolia, Thorndale to Elmdale
BOTH sides of Elmdale, Magnolia to Broadway
BOTH sides of Thorndale, Lakewood to Broadway

To help alleviate some of the residential parking concerns, alternative parking for residents who live on these blocks is being provided. To make arrangements, please contact the Locations Department at 708/ 308-0310.

Street Closures are as follows:

Broadway will be closed from Thorndale to Glenlake when the filming is taking place.
There will be one lane of traffic available on the eastside of Broadway at all other times.
There will also be intermittent traffic control on Elmdale, starting at Glenwood.

There will be many staged emergency vehicles on Broadway throughout the day.
There will be no explosions, no flames, and the noise from the shoot should be little if any.
