The Edgewater Garage Sale is one of those special events that help bring us together as neighbors. Last year was a huge success, with most sellers exceeding expectations. As in the past, other neighborhoods around Edgewater Glen will also be participating. For the first time this year, our neighborhood businesses will also have sidewalk sales at the annual sale on Saturday, June 6th.

The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce invites businesses, community leaders, and residents to a discussion with our elected officials about the current state of our neighborhood and where we are headed. Business Sidewalk Sales: For the first time this year, seven businesses will conduct sidewalk sales at the annual sale. They were recruited by the Edgewater Chamber Commerce and are:

About Face Theatre at 5252 Broadway, Exposition Flooring Design Center at 5718 Broadway, Sifu Design Studio at 6054 Broadway, Green Element at 6241 Broadway, Edgewater Artists in Motion at 1130 Bryn Mawr, Salon Echo at 1134 Bryn Mawr and Wall to Wall Framing at 5554 Winthrop.

The Chamber also has invited restaurants and sidewalk cafes to participate in a shop and stop component of the sale and is encouraging other businesses to offer specials on the occasion of the day-long sale.

Group Sites Another First: To accommodate sellers who do not have space to sell on premises, coordinators have arranged for four group sites: They are: Church of Atonement at 5749 Kenmore, Swift School at 5900 Winthrop, parking lot at 6044 Winthrop and Barr Funeral Home parking lot at 1228 Granville.

Returning to the Fold: Edgewater Beach Apartments, the co-op at 5555 N. Sheridan for the third year, and St. Gertrude’s Church at 6214 Glenwood for the second year with all proceeds going to Walk on Water, the church’s youth group. Also repeating are Care for Real at 1258 Elmdale and Chicago Police Department 24th District at 1242 Elmdale.

Participating for First Time: Immanual Lutheran Church and Families Together Cooperative Nursery School, both at 1500 Elmdale; Chicago Friends School at 5944 Magnolia, and Berger Park Advisory Council at 6205 Sheridan.

Something for the Kiddies: Chicago Friends School at 5944 Magnolia will offer a petting zoo from 1 to 3 p.m. the day of the sale.

Garage Sale Maps: Maps with addresses of all participants will be distributed by sellers the day of the sale. For the first time this year, addresses also will be available online in a Google push-pin map at tinyurl.com/Edgewater-Sale-2015.

Record Number of Sponsors: A record number of seven block clubs plus Edgewater Beach Apartments are participating in this year’s sale, the 21st annual. They are: BARGE Neighbors Community Organization, Edgewater Beach Neighbors Association (EBNA), Edgewater Glen Association (EGA), Edgewater North Neighbors (ENN), EPIC Block Club, North Edgewater Beach Association (NEBA) and TAHBS Citizens Council.

Boundaries of the Sale: East of Broadway to Sheridan: Foster to Granville. West of Broadway to Clark: Ridge to Devon.

Registration Fee: To sell in the 21st annual Edgewater Neighborhood Garage Sale, registration fee is $15. Fees collected defray printing and advertising costs, with any proceeds going to each of the sponsoring organizations.
